THE SPIRIT OF NAMIQUIPA
Nestled deep within the untamed expanses of Namiquipa, Chihuahua, lies a secret as ancient as the majestic mountains that frame the horizon — a distilled essence called Riablo Sotol.
This isn’t just another spirit; it’s the crystallized soul of a land, culture, and legacy. Under the masterful guidance of Maestro Jovanny Ortega, every drop embodies the spirit of traditions passed down through whispered tales and moonlit dances.
It’s more than a drink; it’s an experience. Every sip tells a story, taking you on a journey through sun-soaked terrains, echoing fiestas, and the unwavering spirit of Mexico.
Mezcal is an Agave spirit distilled from 12 to 15 different types of mezcal maguey. Each mezcal is associated with a specific type of maguey and a region. The regions where Mezcal is produced are Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas.
The most popular is “Maguey Espadin” from the Oaxaca region.
There are different varieties of Mezcal: Mezcal 100% Agave, Mezcal, Mezcal Joven “young”, Aged Mezcal, and Mezcal reposado. (VivirMexico, 2011)
Mezcal is a Nahuatl word that means “oven-cooked agave”.
